Day 45: The MTV generation – [The Off Topics]

offtopics

I get all nostalgic thinking of the way we used to get a hold of music, before streaming music was even an option. With the risk of sounding old fashion, but I sometimes liked it better back in the days. The times when you had to wait for that special track to play on MTV or the radio. When you eventually heard your song on the radio, didn’t matter what you were doing, when that song starts playing you’ll do whatever it takes to press record. However, the songs always got ruined because of the damn DJ that had to “fade out” in the beginning of the track.

INSERT TEXT

The song I always enjoyed was, the Thong Song by Sisqo. Did you know that Sisqo released a book called “The man behind the thong? I know, mind blowing.

There was this one time when I came home from school, I turned on MTV hoping that the Thong song was playing, but there was no big bootie bitches, no silver haired black guy, no thongs, there was only fucking Ricky Martin (Mr Livin La Vida Loca).

I left the TV on though and I’m glad I did, because the next song that was playing just influenced me in a very interesting way. It gave me advice, some which I could relate and some I didn’t quite relate to…. yet. After that day I didn’t hear more of that song, until just a few days ago. It was weird hearing this song again with a bit more experience and more perspective on life. I didn’t quite fully understand the entire song until now, and this got me in a better mood. If you have time, listen to this song, bet you it will get your mind busy. The song is called “Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen”:

A fitting quote from the song:

“Enjoy your body, use it in every way you can, don’t be afraid of it or what everybody else think of it. It’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.”

This just may be another song for you guys, but I think its worth 5 minutes of your time, got me in a better mood, hope it does the same for you readers. Have a nice Saturday.
